Computer forensics is a branch of digital forensic science pertaining to legal evidence found in computers and digital storage media. The goal of computer forensics is to examine digital media in a forensically sound manner with the aim of identifying, preserving, recovering, analyzing and presenting facts and opinions about the information.

Although it is most often associated with the investigation of a wide variety of computer crime, forensic data recovery can also be of value in in civil proceedings, and can be used to help examine and provide Ediscovery.

Computer forensic examination includes forensic examination of computers and related media, report of findings and expert testimony.

Data Recovery includes data recovery, lost file recovery, deleted file recovery from media that has been purposely or inadvertently deleted from electronic media like hard drives, camera cards, CD ROMS, DVD ROMS, and other electronic media.  Data recovery can also include password cracking to obtain data that has been encrypted or password protected.
